From His Origins as an Intern from UVM, a Track Record of Adding Value & Responsibility
We announced today that Sonny Parrotte has been promoted to the position of Operations Manager. It’s a well deserved acknowledgement of his tenure at the firm, and the natural culmination of how he’s added value since walking in our door.
In his new role, Sonny will be responsible for overseeing our manufacturing, equipment maintenance, shipping and receiving operations. This includes achieving our production requirements, product outputs, delivery goals, and ensuring the quality of all we do. In addition, he’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with all appropriate regulations. It’s a big role, and in it he’ll continue to report to Julie Martin, VP of 89 North.
Sonny started his career at 89 North as an intern in May of 2017 and was hired full time as a Mechanical Engineer after receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering from UVM in June of 2018. Critically, Sonny led the successful development and implementation of 89 North’s Quality Management System (QMS), leading to our ISO 9001 certification in August of 2020. In the spring of that year, Sonny also took on supervisory and scheduling responsibilities in the Manufacturing department. In his time as supervisor, he’s helped grow the manufacturing team by leading the effort to hire four assembly technicians — and a handful of temporary employees in between.
In his free time Sonny enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, hunting, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, working on never-ending home projects, and barbecuing. He’s also a big fan of Pearl Jam.
Join us in congratulating Sonny on this well-deserved promotion!
