The OptoScan Monochromator controls bandwidth in real-time during experiments, allowing each excitation wavelength to be optimized independently. Thus, when Stokes shifts are large or when fluorescence intensities are weak, a relatively large bandwidth can be selected to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio. Conversely, if there is a small Stokes shift or if the fluorescence intensity is high, the slit width can be minimized to reduce bleed-through and optimize dynamic range.  This level of real-time interaction is crucial to accomplish today’s complex protocols.

TwinLED Light Source
Ratiometric calcium imaging with LEDs can work extremely well, but, due to the relatively narrow bandwidths and spectral variations of individual LEDs, it does require attention to detail. The TwinLED head works directly with our OptoLED controller and makes the process simple, as we take care of the LED selection, intensity regulation and bespoke optics to make your experiments work with the best possible signal-to-noise.
