Designed for dynamic illumination of points or selected regions in the field of view of the microscope, the UGA-42 Firefly adds a variety of photomanipulation techniques to imaging and electrophysiology rigs. It supports up to 4 fiber-coupled lasers ranging from near UV to near IR, allowing multiple methods to be used on the same microscope.
The software runs in parallel with and independent of the imaging software for uninterrupted imaging during photomanipulation. The photomanipulation is done either in real-time at the click of the mouse or by setting up sequences of regions of interest (ROIs) illuminated during the experiment with accurate timing. Setting up the ROI sequence is facilitated by the use of a timeline for temporal control and user-friendly editing functions.
