The Cairn OptoSplit II LS BP is our best ever dual-channel simultaneous imaging system for use with a single camera. It builds on the success of the OptoSplit II but adds a convenient single lever bypass mode making it more suitable for multi-user microscopes where simultaneous dual channels are only required for specific experiments alongside single wavelength imaging.
The OptoSplit II Bypass has been designed as a convenient solution for simultaneous dual-wavelength imaging. Traditionally, dual-wavelength imaging experiments required that two images be captured sequentially. However, because the two images were not taken at the same time, temporal artifacts, caused by intracellular movement, often appeared between exposures.  To eliminate these temporal artifacts and provide the most accurate measurements, the OptoSplit II allows both images to be acquired simultaneously.
The images captured by the OptoSplit II contain information from two different emission bands and can be processed using commercially available software packages. Alternatively, the images can be processed manually. While it is optimized for coupling to a scientific microscope, the OptoSplit II can also be used with camera lenses or any other system of lenses that produce an image plane of a suitable size.
