Our Vice President Julie Martin was a keynote speaker at the recent Society of Women Engineers (SWE) event in Hartford, Connecticut. The organization’s mission is to provide career support for the unique needs of women working in the engineering industry. The #WELocalHartford event took place on March 3rd-4th and had an impressive reach, with over 34 U.S. states represented, as well as Canada, Mexico, and the Czech Republic.
Julie remarked “To be honest, it’s always a bit daunting for me to speak in large public gatherings, but I’ve received a lot of support over the course of my career, and it’s really an honor to support others in their journeys. The enthusiasm and ambition of the conference attendees was palpable and it makes me very excited for the future.”
Her presentation, which reached over 750 participants, was titled “The Power of the Pebble,” and provided insights from her career. She encouraged the audience to understand that success is built upon a foundation of many — often tiny — moments that accrue incrementally, and she illustrated the talk using examples from the arc of her own career.
